Wednesday May 19,2010 |
As part of Queensland Week celebrations, the Surfers Paradise Festival will be putting the spotlight on the amazing food and produce to be found in the Sunshine State as eat week kicks off. Produced by Surfers Paradise Alliance, in conjunction with the Gold Coast City Council, the inaugural Surfers Paradise Festival will see the beach, streets, parks, venues & eateries of Surfers filled with energetic live performances, engaging art displays, vibrant outdoor festivals and foodie events throughout May and June. A core pillar of the Festival, eat week will include 33 participating restaurants whose chefs will be working with the best produce the State has to offer, from the beautiful ocean to the amazing fields and creating dishes inspired by the world envied climate and lifestyle. Surfers Paradise according to Surfers Paradise Alliance CEO Rowena Howe is the perfect place for a celebration such as eat week with a diverse fusion of eclectic culinary flavours to be found with the precinct. 'Initiatives such as Queensland Week allow the spotlight to be put on the States incredible produce and the opportunity to create an event such as eat week within the Surfers Paradise Festival is something we embraced wholeheartedly,' said Ms Howe. 'Restaurants within the precinct have passionately embraced the challenge of creating dishes sourced from our soil and water and inspired by the incredible beauty to be found with our borders, with over 33 signing up to take part.' For the gourmands out there eat week will offer up some incredibly tempting treats with seafood sourced from Queensland waters, the amazing wine to be found in the State's vineyards and of course the world famous beef taking pride of place in a number of dishes. Surfers Paradise has a multitude of dining options across an array of cultures and eat week will provide the opportunity for foodies to taste test at their leisure a variety of cuisines. |
